CANADA TURNS 150

Canada turning 150 is an exciting milestone, and what made it even better was that I got to celebrate with my family.

My family from Ottawa made the trip down for the weekend, and it could not have been filled with more joy. I'm incredibly thankful to have a close relationship with my cousins. I think the fact that we only get to see each other about twice a year has made us appreciate each other's company and really take advantage of the time we have together.

Some things we did last weekend:

We visited Winter Wheat, located in Sparta, Ontario. If you love crafts, you definitely have to visit this store. It's in the middle of a forest filled with folk art pieces, and has a number of cozy cottages to sit in.
We also took a day trip to Stratford. Beautiful. If you get the chance to visit, I suggest walking through the downtown shops, as well as taking a stroll along the river. There was a quiet trail beside the river that had picnic tables for you to eat at, too. We didn't eat there, but the Boar's Head Pub has some amazing food. Stratford is known for their theatre productions held at the Avon Theatre, Studio Theatre, and Tom Patterson Theatre. Their productions are top-notch for anyone who enjoys seeing a show.
We went to Mykaela and Adam's wedding venue! It was the first time seeing it without snow, and it was beautiful. Officially less than a year until they say "I do"!
For my family, a reunion isn't complete without a games night. Recently, we have been playing Bean Boozled. Haven't heard of it? You spin a dial and land on a jelly bean. For every jelly bean colour, there are two flavours - a delicious one, and one that makes you struggle to finish it. We usually tie this in with another game, including Taboo or Heads Up, just to make it more fun and competitive. For anyone who's intrigued, YouTube has many entertaining videos.
Lastly, Canada 150 wouldn't have been complete without a fireworks show.

The weekend flew by too quick, as it always does, but I am already counting down the days until our next Rigg-Moberg reunion.

Warning: a significant amount of cousin photos below.
