Last year we were offered a free trip to Walt Disney World, so we decided to visit Mickey Mouse as the last Rigg vacation before Mykaela gets married.
For those who don't know, last year when we went to Disney I accidentally left a box of opened cookies in the car, attracting hundreds of red ants into our vehicle. After waiting a few hours for Disney's pest control to clean up some of the ants, the staff offered us another trip back for our troubles (so really, you're welcome for leaving the cookies)!
The trip was nothing short of amazing. We spent two days driving down, and arrived in time to visit Downtown Disney on the first night. On our first day we visited Magic Kingdom, spent the second in Animal Kingdom, and the third day in Epcot. Let me tell you, a perk of going to Disney when you're older is that you learn to appreciate Epcot. As a kid Epcot was that boring park with no rides and a place for your parents to walk around, but after this trip I think it's just as good as Magic Kingdom (Mykaela thinks I'm crazy). The highlight of Disney had to be the new Avatar feature where two rides are built into the world of Pandora. Friends, if you're going, RIDE FLIGHT OF PASSAGE! It's similar to Soarin' except you're meant to be riding on the back of a banshee. The four of us waited 2.5 hours in line, but walked out with our jaws on the ground. My dad was talking about it all day, and it became our new favourite ride in all of Disney World.
After spending a few days in Disney, we visited Universal Studios for the first time. We were impressed with how short the lines, and how long the rides were. Our favourite part was by far the Harry Potter part of both parks. We walked through Hogwarts (which also has an amazing ride inside), Diagon Alley, and bought wands (duh). Mykaela was matched with a nice Hermione wand, while I was matched with a lovely George Weasley wand (lol). We finished Universal at the waterpark located right beside our hotel, and got ourselves some nice "tans".
Unfortunately I don't have time (gotta love midterm season), but I could spend forever writing about all of the rides and memories that we experienced. Overall, it was a week and a half that felt like a month, and it was filled with laughter, laughter, and more laughter. She won't be impressed that I added this in here, but next time you see my mom you should ask her about her alien voice. Mom had us in stitches the entire trip - she's hilarious!! Our family trips have meant a lot to us over the years, but with this one being the last before Mykaela becomes a Marshall, it was especially special. My mom, dad and sister are my three best friends, and I am SO lucky to have them. They fill my heart with so much love and happiness *starting to get teary just typing this*. As I have grown older, I have learned to really appreciate the time spent together, and am so grateful we were able to go on this trip.
Enjoy the many Rigg selfies :)
